Two Italian hostages, including a priest kidnapped in Niger in 2018, are among the four hostages released in Mali, the Malian government announced on Thursday in a statement.

In addition to the Malian politician Soumaïla Cissé and the last French hostage still held in the world, Sophie Pétronin, the Italians Nicola Chiacchio and the priest Pier Luigi Maccalli, in the hands of jihadist groups, have been released, according to the same press release.
