- It is the rate of increase we have that is so worrying.

It is clear that we are looking for a mandate to slow down, says Mikael Köhler, director of health and medical care.

In the Uppsala Region, two measures have so far been on the agenda:

- Closing restaurants in the evening and refraining from unnecessary travel could be relevant, says Mikael Köhler.

The Uppsala region has therefore recently been under the authority of the Public Health Agency, because according to current regulations, it is not possible to implement local restrictions.

The Swedish Public Health Agency has now heeded the distress call and a new proposal has been drawn up which would give the regions the opportunity to decide on a number of restrictions.

Proposal for consultation

It may be possible to decide on local restrictions from 19 October - the proposal is now being rolled out for consultation to the regions.

If the situation is so difficult right now - can you wait until then with local restrictions?

- I can buy it because they kept the ceiling for gatherings of 50 people.

Otherwise, we would definitely have needed local restrictions now, says Mikael Köhler.
