His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, visited the city of Kalba yesterday, and during the visit the Kalba Road was opened, and he inspected a number of development, vital and tourism projects in the city.

Kalba Road is one of the most prominent development, service and tourism projects that Sharjah adopts to develop the city of Kalba, in a way that serves the city’s residents and visitors, and contributes to serving various vital sectors. The time for road users from Kalba to Sharjah has been shortened to an hour, instead of an hour and a half.

The cost of the road was one billion dirhams and a length of 26 km, and it extends from Wadi Al-Hilu to Al-Alam Square in the city of Kalba. The Kalba Road consists of Wadi Al-Hilu Road, with a length of 12.5 kilometers, and has two double seas, a width of 26 meters, and includes three junctions and 10 crossings, and the Wadi Road Strait, which is 8.5 kilometers long.

It includes a double mountain tunnel, two sailors 450 meters long, and includes five crossings and one interchange.

The road has the necessary lighting and ground lighting equipment, as well as raising its safety level through the middle metal barriers that limit the sand dunes, as well as a tight fence, according to the highest levels of safety on both sides.

His Highness was informed of a number of projects built on both sides of the road, including the green spaces that will cover the Kalba Mountains, forming hanging gardens, in addition to a project that will be implemented in the future, which is Al Yahar Lake, with a length of two kilometers.

His Highness stopped at the Wadi Al-Ghail dam and was informed of future project plans, directing to develop the valley and create a garden and places for camping, and another for mobile food carts, and a mountain walkway.

And he directed work to plant one million Sidr trees around the dam and the valley to the tops of the surrounding mountains.

His Highness inspected the Kalba Corniche, which is the most recent tourist and environmental destination in the city, and extends over a length of 9.5 kilometers, and has been provided with all services and facilities, and will include a range of restaurants, shops, recreational facilities, green parks, spaces for children’s play, and other playgrounds for adults.

The project includes 2,200 parking spaces, in addition to allocating 85 parking spaces for people of determination, 14 pedestrian paths, a park and beaches, and an eight-kilometer park, and a 7-km jogging track has been implemented.

He directed the speedy completion and implementation of a number of new facilities and constructions that serve the project, and to provide the best elements of comfort and recreation for the city's residents, visitors and visitors.

His Highness also visited the Kalba Literary Council, and wandered around the building, seeing its halls and departments.

He listened to a full explanation of the activities of the Department of Culture in the various cities and regions of Sharjah, and directed to stimulate the cultural and literary movement in the various cities and regions of the emirate.
