Officials blamed the initial outbreak of the virus in Jordan on infected truck drivers who were crossing the northern border with Syria, and the authorities tried to control the spread of the virus by imposing curfews to isolate areas experiencing outbreaks in the capital and remote cities.


The Jordanian monarch, King Abdullah II criticized the government for making mistakes in facing the epidemic, and the newly-appointed Prime Minister Bishr Al-Khasawneh ordered on Wednesday to raise the capacity of hospitals in the coming weeks and to intensify checks to detect the virus.
