In the Nizhny Novgorod region, two former Criminal Investigators are suspected of beating a detainee in order to obtain confessions. In the spring of 2015, policemen from Bor, Aleksey Khrulev and Nikolai Atamashko, caught the alleged organizer of the drug laboratory. In the department where the suspect was taken, he signed a confession, but later stated that the police beat him. An official check in respect of the officers pointed out by the man did not reveal any violations - the applicant was repeatedly refused to open a criminal case. In 2019, he left the colony, appealed to the "Committee against Torture" and obtained the resumption of the investigation. The police believe that the man is acting "out of revenge" and claim that they have evidence of their own innocence.
