The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai confirmed to "Emirates Today" that vehicles that were exempted from technical examination due to closure during the national sterilization period will not be summoned to conduct the examination again before the expiration of their annual license.

She added that the vehicle will not be examined before the license expires, unless new transactions are made.

The authority stated that “the decision to exempt vehicles from technical inspection at the state level included vehicles only when renewing transactions, not other transactions,” pointing to the issuance of the decision during the national sterilization period (from last March to June) based on instructions received from the Ministry of Interior and within the procedures. Precautionary measures to stop the spread of the Corona virus.

She added that the decision directed that vehicles be exempted from technical inspection during the specified period, pointing out that they will not be summoned for inspection unless the customer wants to complete new transactions, such as selling or exporting the vehicle, unless other decisions are issued in this regard.

Regarding the renewal of driver and vehicle licenses through electronic channels during the home quarantine period, and drivers' concern that they would be subject to a violation because they did not carry driver's license cards and plastic vehicle licenses, the authority confirmed coordination with the competent authorities regarding reliance on electronic licenses and the lack of a printed license inside the country.

It also confirmed the availability of the option to print the plastic card in the customer happiness centers and its service provider centers, in case the customer wishes to obtain it.

According to the authority's data, the number of transactions executed in person through service delivery centers decreased by 70% by the end of the second half of this year, compared to last year.

It is noteworthy that the authority continues to implement the digital transformation project for drivers ’licenses, which was announced last June, through which to re-engineer drivers’ licensing services, with the aim of facilitating and presenting them in the form of digital trips.
