The Ethiopian federal government will no longer have any interaction with the executive of the state of Tigray and its various bodies.

From now on, he will only have to deal with the lower echelons, the municipalities and the district administrations, the kebelle, in order to maintain "

the basic services

" of the state.

These are the decisions taken Tuesday evening by the deputies of the federation.

And on Wednesday, federal subsidies to Tigray were suspended.

But for now, no security measure has been announced.

On the Tigrayan side, the 38 deputies of the upper house and the 8 deputies of the lower house were recalled to Mekele.

Provincial leaders have been spending a lot of time on television in recent days, explaining the situation to Tigrayans.

According to them, the regional state is still governed by federal law, but not by any provisions that would be adopted after October 5, the date of the expiration of Abiy Ahmed's mandate.

No showdown, therefore, while calls for the formation of a technocratic transitional government are multiplying in the opposition, in order to get the federation out of the impasse.
