The parliamentary commission that will deal with reconstruction from the

Congress

and the

Senate

is up in the air.

After knowing the confidential alerts of the Department of National Security that EL MUNDO has revealed, and that warned of the overflow of the pandemic on March 7, the PP has a new demand: either that "scandal" is investigated, or it will not be able to support its creation.

This has been announced by the PP spokesman in the Senate, Javier Maroto, who has ensured that a 'sine qua non' condition for the approval of the mixed Congress-Senate commission for reconstruction is that this body investigate the alerts that National Security sent to the Government on the lethality of Covid-19 between January and March.

It should be remembered that

the vote of the PP will be decisive for the commission to be approved or not

, since the PNV has already said that it will vote against, and both add up to the majority of the members of the Senate Table (the PSOE has three, same as the 'popular', and the 'jeltzales', one).

"We want the commission to be believed, but to analyze what happened in the first days of the pandemic, and to clarify why the Government did not take into consideration the serious warnings of the National Security Departments," added Maroto, who is going to file an addition amendment for this purpose.

This newspaper published this Tuesday that on March 7 and 8, the Department of National Security, dependent on the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government, warned Pedro Sánchez, the vice presidents and the 11 main ministers of the increase in infections and deaths. which was taking place "in the last hours" in Spain.

Maroto has assured that

the normal thing is that a "similar information" produced the "resignation of half of the Government"

.

The PP spokesman has stressed that there were a dozen occasions in which National Security alerted the Executive "before the happy demonstration of March 8, which was the massive contagion of many people from Madrid."

"Hiding all that until today is an unprecedented scandal in the coronavirus pandemic in Spain," he stressed.

"At least 11 ministers of the Government of Spain were silent about what they received on their mobiles on account of the severity of the pandemic. And a friend from school did not tell them, the Department of National Security told them: that is very serious."

For this reason, he has criticized the absence of the first vice president, Carmen Calvo, at the plenary session this afternoon in the Senate.

As she has denounced, there is no commitment in her agenda that prevents her from going to the Upper House and has demanded that she give explanations on the matter that concerns National Security.

"It's a joke" that she doesn't, in her opinion.

The leader of the PP has emphasized that, if the PSOE agrees to investigate this, "immediately afterwards, and without pause", that commission would begin to "work on

coordinated measures with autonomous communities

and local entities for the future."
