  • The mayor of Nantes has promised to recruit 70 additional municipal police officers.

  • A specialized brigade must also be created in transport.

Where is the recruitment of new municipal police officers?

Johanna Rolland's campaign commitment, on a subject of particular concern to residents, the 70 additional agents promised are not yet on the ground, while new national police personnel arrived in September.

This Tuesday, the mayor of Nantes (PS) gave details of the schedule.

According to her, the recruitment will be launched after the city council decides on the issue.

It will be on the agenda for a meeting scheduled for December.

“The situation is not satisfactory today in terms of security,” admitted Johanna Rolland.

Every week, the House of Public Tranquility receives 800 calls.

For transport, eight agents out of 32 recruited

In addition, the metropolitan transport brigade, a promise made by the previous metropolitan executive, will not be operational before February 2021 at the earliest.

The recruitment of 32 municipal police officers specializing in securing the Semitan network is difficult and is behind schedule.

Only eight agents have so far been found.

"It seems that the security of Nantes does not interest Johanna Rolland," annoys Laurence Garnier, leader (LR) of the opposition.

“We are having difficulty finding competent profiles that meet our expectations.

We have demands.

We are especially not looking for cowboys, ”explains Pascal Bolo, president of Semitan and deputy mayor of Nantes in charge of transport.

The metropolitan transport brigade will intervene in the trains and at the stations seven days a week, until 11:30 p.m.

Its implementation was initially scheduled for fall 2020.
