Fiona Ferro (49th), eliminated Monday by the 6th world Sofia Kenin at Roland Garros in her first round of 16 in the Grand Slam, wants "to come back even better" in order to "lift the biggest cups".

Q: You were leading in the first set, and then Kenin took over.

How do you analyze this defeat?

A: In the first set, I thought I really had the cards in hand, I played pretty well, I felt like I had the solutions.

And then (...) it was more complicated in the last two sets.

I had trouble reacting (...) She took the ball earlier.

She raised her level of play and I struggled to raise mine.

I did not have a lot of preparation before Roland Garros, because of my injury, I only had a week and a half racket in hand.

So if I had had a little more time, it might have helped me physically to be able to put in a little more in the third set.

There I tried, but I didn't really have the resources to do more. "

Q: What conclusions do you draw from this Roland Garros?

A: "There it is for sure, I am very disappointed that it ends today. But it was a beautiful tournament. At the end of each Roland-Garros, I want it to last longer. I quickly get a taste of the atmosphere at the Central! It's for things like that that I train every day (...) I am proud of my attitude. The circumstances were not easy for me. Two to three weeks before Roland I didn't know if I was going to play. In the end I still managed to win three matches. I felt better and better, so I hoped to go even further, but I was proud of the way I managed things, and of the calm that I managed to keep. (...) After I don't know if it really clicked, it's more my progress that follows its course . It'll give me a lot of confidence in the future. "

Q: You are going to become the French No. 1, does that change anything for you?

How do you see the future?

A: It's good to be N.1, but at any time that can change.

There isn't much difference between the players, there are four of us who are all in the same ranking.

My goal is really to continue to work, to evolve, to come back as quickly as possible to this type of court and this type of match.

With Emmanuel (Planque, his trainer), we are in a good dynamic, we do not really set limits.

We will continue to do everything to try to lift the biggest cuts.

Unfortunately, at the WTA, we don't have many tournaments this year (...) But then I will take the opportunity to continue training, to continue to progress, to be better and to arrive at matches like today. better.
