His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, won the Personality Award for Supporting Gender Balance, and the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (at the level of ministries) and the Federal Demographic Council won the award for the best federal entity supporting gender balance. At the level of federal bodies and institutions, the Federal Council for Demography has achieved the highest percentage of the three indicators, and the Council has been keen over the past years to promote gender balance in all departments and levels and in the work environment, while enhancing the opportunities for women to enter the specialized and technical fields.

Best initiative to support the Ministry of Health and Community Protection

The third category is dedicated to the best initiative to support gender balance, and is awarded to best practices, projects, policies and legislation that support gender balance.

The Ministry of Health and Community Protection won the Best Initiative Shield, for the ministerial decision to "include the cervical cancer vaccine (HPV) in the national program of immunization, provided that it is given in two doses to school girls at the age of thirteen and fourteenth in the eighth grade."

This initiative is considered a pioneering step in preventing women from this type of cancer, as half a million women contract it annually and a quarter of a million women die from it.

This initiative will contribute to reducing the deaths of women and girls due to cervical cancer, thus reducing the general indicator of female mortality in the country, which in turn will contribute to supporting gender balance and protecting women’s health.
