“In agreement with the EEAS (European External Action Service) and the EU member states, we have decided to withdraw some of the ambassadors accredited in the Republic of Belarus for consultations,” Rau wrote on Twitter.

He expressed gratitude to the other EU countries for their solidarity with Poland and Lithuania.

“All attempts to stigmatize any EU member state will be met with a direct and reciprocal response,” he said.

Earlier it was reported that Lithuania has decided to recall its ambassador to Belarus for consultations.

On October 2, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry asked Poland and Lithuania to reduce the diplomatic presence in Belarus to 18 and 14 diplomats, respectively, by October 9.
