Donald Trump has spent the weekend at Walter Reed Military Hospital where he was treated for covid-19.

SVT's US correspondent Stefan Åsberg believes that doctors want to give the impression that the president is recovering well.

- But if you listen to what medicines the president receives, it is something that is given to quite seriously ill patients.

We have also heard the doctors say that he received oxygen as late as Saturday morning and that he has changes in his lungs, says Åsberg in Morgonstudion.

He continues:

- We will probably get the receipt of how the condition is for Donald Trump if he is now really discharged later today or on Tuesday.

It is unclear whether the presidential debate can be carried out

During the night, the president made a car trip where he, wearing a mouth guard, was seen waving to supporters.

The incident attracted a lot of attention and has been praised by Trump's supporters but has been criticized by medical experts who believe that a covid patient should rest in the first place.

Stefan Åsberg believes that Trump's illness in covid-19 poses a lot of problems for his campaign.

- Everyone works for the president to get in such a shape that he can conduct election work, because he needs this whole organization around him.

Now several are sick, and others are very worried about getting sick.

It also remains to be seen whether the big presidential debate in two weeks' time will be possible.
