It was in connection with Pride Week and the inauguration of the artwork "Our city our society" that a suspicious object was discovered at the stairs to the water tower in Askersund.

The site was cordoned off and national bomb squads were called.

Although the latter were able to establish that the object was harmless, the police take the incident seriously.

- This is classified as an illegal threat to a group.

It is classified as such right now because there is not the least explosive device, but it is a threat with the outcome in hand so far.

Then it depends on what the investigation comes to.

There may be other criminal classifications, says Stefan Wickberg, press spokesperson at the police region Bergslagen.

Is this a serious crime we are talking about?

- It depends on the severity and what else emerges.

It is conceivable that there will be serious illegal threats.

This has had a great impact and effect, says Wickberg.

"There is material to work on"

No suspect has yet been arrested for the incident.

Several threats and incidents must have occurred earlier in the week.

Among other things, a pride flag hoisted at the company Zinkgruvan Mining was destroyed.

However, it was replaced by a larger one, says communications manager Monika Andersson.

The police now hope to get an overall picture to possibly call in the person or persons behind the events in Askersund.

- There is material to work on.

Some have emerged in connection with interrogations.

Then there may be technical evidence that can help us.

He does not want to go into what details it is about, but refers to future investigations and prosecutors in the case.

- We will see if we get statements that can be linked to yesterday's event, says Stefan Wickberg.
