• Events: The CDR celebrate the 1-O by burning containers and throwing posters against the Mossos

The independence movement has lost the streets.

The week in which protests were called for the Supreme Court ruling that confirmed the disqualification of the already former president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, and the anniversaries of 1-O and the sovereign strike of 3-O, has only removed protest more than a hundred people in each of them.

Even the mobilizations in which the most violent were expected, those that are usually covered by the convocation of the Committees for the Defense of the Republic (CDR), ended with more than a dozen detainees in the two main days of incidents, the protest by the disqualification of Torra and the anniversary of the voting on October 1.

Of course, they were the most showy.

Not only due to the traditional throwing of objects, such as stones or iron bars, at the police, the burning of containers to make barricades before the arrival of the Mossos d'Esquadra or Spanish flags, but also due to the use of pig heads cut to leave them at the feet of the agents who were guarding the Government Delegation in Catalonia located in Barcelona.

Precisely, the appearance of these severed pig heads, to symbolize the rejection of Spain and its Monarchy, had its climax in the protests last weekend when fifty of a group of CDRs, summoned by social networks with very little On the sidelines, they went to Plaza Urquinaona in Barcelona, the epicenter of the protests almost a year ago after the Supreme Court's sentence for sedition, to express their rejection of the State and demand independence.

For this they placed a cardboard guillotine with a photo of King Felipe VI and a pig's head to remember that this Saturday was also the third anniversary of the monarch's speech after 1-O in which he was very hard with the performance of the independentistas and expressed his "dedication to understanding and harmony among Spaniards" as well as his commitment "to the unity and permanence of Spain."

For this reason, the guillotine carried the motto 'Neither forget nor forgive.

Shortly afterwards, the same protesters placed another very similar guillotine in Via Laietana, in front of the Higher Police Headquarters of Catalonia, which was guarded by anti-riot agents to avoid incidents.

It was not the only action against the King this weekend in Catalonia, in Girona, the CDRs burned a doll of the monarch placed in a cardboard structure and two Spanish flags in Plaza 1 d'Octubre.

There were more examples in other Catalan municipalities of these assemblages against the State.

In a roundabout at the entrance to Cassà de la Selva (Gerona) you could see a guillotine with a doll and underneath the head of a pig with a crown.

It was not the only one.

Next to it were another dozen sectioned pig heads, hanging from crosses with the inscription of people or entities designated by the independence movement as "Spain", "Borbones", "National Police", "Civil Guard", "Spanish Army", " PP "," Citizens "or" Vox ".

There was also a reference to the one who until recently was Minister of the Interior of the Generalitat, Miquel Buch, who was repeatedly attacked by broad sectors of the independence movement for the repression of the Mossos d'Esquadra with the people who committed serious incidents during the protests, both those of a year ago as a result of the sentence, like other earlier ones in roadblocks or for the celebration of the Constitution party.

Even the then president Torra spoiled the police charges.

This assembly was widely criticized by social networks by constitutional parties and entities that demanded an investigation to determine if the people who had placed it could have committed a crime.

But the independence movement not only has the Monarchy as its enemy.

Now they also point to the political parties of the Government.

This week, during the rally for 1-O, the protesters launched banners with the photo of nationalist leaders against the Mossos who were in the Generalitat.

They were ugly that they had not fulfilled the popular mandate of independence.

In addition to decreasing in number, the mobilizations are beginning to target secessionist politicians who have encouraged them, frustrated and cheated by not seeing the promises they made them fulfilled.

It will be necessary to see if this sovereign discontent is reflected in the streets although with another face on the target or is reflected in the ballot boxes of the regional elections that are just around the corner.

On Saturday a hundred people from the pro-independence left protested around the Palau de Justicia de Barcelona, headquarters of the Superior Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC), on the occasion of the third anniversary of the sovereignist strike of 3-O to denounce the "repression" of the judicial system.

Summoned by the October 3 Platform, which is made up of various entities, organizations and alternative pro-independence unions, as well as political formations such as the CUP, the protesters tried to surround the building but for security reasons and because few were summoned they decided to go ahead.

Secession for "attrition"

Carles Puigdemont's new party, JxCat, has set as a strategy the "erosion of state power in Catalonia" through peaceful confrontation to achieve independence.

This was approved in the political presentation of the founding congress of training.

JxCat defends that the next elections in Catalonia "should open the door to a new attack by the Catalan republic, particularly if the pro-independence lists exceed 50%."

In this scenario, the party will consider requesting the intervention of the European Union (EU) to force a referendum, as stated in the presentation: «The defense of Europe is to turn the Catalan process into an opportunity to solidify values and the Europe of the rights, the Europe of citizenship ”.

"Junts fully assumes, as a strategy to achieve the full effectiveness of the independence of Catalonia, the confrontation with the State using civil disobedience and non-cooperation in a democratic manner", which is why it put regional officials at the center of suspicion that they must enforce current legislation, including state legislation, such as the Mossos d'Esquadra.

In addition, the presentation points out that in order to complete independence, "a democratic revolt" will be necessary as in October 2017.

The formation defends that confrontation is not incompatible with "forcing a dialogue with the State (leading to an agreed referendum), or achieving independence outside of any negotiation (first de facto and then by law)."

It is committed to doing so from the unity between independentists, giving room, especially, to people who «have never been affiliated with a party, the youth who have just made their commitment to freedom and the future of the country and the newcomers with will to put down roots in Catalonia ».

The president of JxCat, Carles Puigdemont, made a call to overcome the «barrier» of 50% of pro-independence votes in the next Catalan elections and urged his followers to «not lose patience» and persevere until achieving the goal of independence from Catalonia, without considering "backing off" even if the road is "hard".

In the JxCat congress, it also accepts double membership "until there is an eventual electoral confrontation" and recognizes the liberal, social-democratic and left-wing ideological spaces within the organization.

In this way, they open the door for many members of the PDeCAT to participate in the formation waiting to know if they appear on a joint list.

The party also places Catalan as "the clearest element of recognition of Catalonia as a nation", calls for making it a backbone and integrating element of those who live and work in Catalonia, and advocates that it be a vehicular language in school and in schools. administrations.
