After having praised the merits of a miracle herbal tea against Covid-19 called Covid Organics or CVO, the Malagasy president, Andry Rajoelina, is now promoting the capsule version of this herbal potion.

Seven million people have already tested herbal tea in Madagascar, even if no scientific study has so far proven its effectiveness.

The remedy remains, however, offered as a supplement to conventional drugs.

"Health workers are afraid to argue" over the remedy

If the Madagascan president wishes to export the remedy beyond the island, some opposition voices have already been very critical of its effectiveness.

"There have been threats, there have been arrests of medical professors, around all of this. This is the reason why health personnel are afraid to argue about the CVO", explains to France 24, Roland Ratsiraka, deputy for Toamasina, a port city in the east of the island.

In May, the WHO also warned against any temptation to promote the potion touted by Andry Rajoelina without scientific testing.
