The reigning English champion, Liverpool, was crushed Sunday by Aston Villa (7-2) for the fourth day of the Premier League, unheard of since 1963 for the Reds.

Liverpool, who had won their first 3 matches, are in 5th place in the standings, tied on point with their hangman of the day, who are in 2nd place thanks to their goal difference.

In a match where nothing went in his favor and where his defense was absent subscribers, Liverpool were down 4-1 at the break with a hat-trick from Ollie Watkins.

Even Jürgen Klopp laughed on the sidelines after the 6th goal of Jack Grealish (6-2, 66th), the third scored by the Birmingham club on a shot deflected by a defender of the Reds.

Deprived in the cages of his Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, injured, and Senegalese striker Sadio Mané, suffering from Covid-19, Liverpool experienced a nightmare in attack, despite the double from Mohamed Salah (33rd, 60th).

Liverpool had not conceded 7 goals in the league since a loss by the same score against Tottenham in 1963 and, never, an outgoing English champion had not taken 7 goals since a 7-1 conceded by Arsenal at Sunderland in 1953.

The game comes after another wildly insane encounter which saw Manchester United lose 6-1 at Old Trafford to Tottenham, after leading 1-0 on a two-minute mark.
