Donald Trump has been moving in large crowds lately and has not followed the recommendations of just mouth guards.

Given that, it is not entirely unexpected that the president was infected with the virus, but the consequences are still shocking to many Americans, says Ian Swanson.

- This is probably the biggest health risk a president has been in since President Reagan was shot in the 80s.

Many of us have not experienced such a situation before, that a president is at such a great health risk that can make him very ill, make him incapable of doing his job, or in a worst case scenario, even if it is unlikely, can lead until he dies.

- So I think many Americans in recent days have tried to grasp that it is a situation where the president may be in danger, says Ian Swanson.

"Do not even know all the consequences"

The news that Donald Trump has been infected with the coronavirus comes just a few weeks before the presidential election.

- We do not even know all the consequences this may have for the election campaign.

One of the consequences that we know for sure is that this will affect Trump in that he will not be able to conduct these major election rallies, where he had hoped to engage his voters, Republicans and Conservatives, says Ian Swanson.

- Vice President Mike Pence will continue with the election meetings and to some extent he will be the one who carries the banner for the Trump campaign.

But there are still details we do not know.

Trump and Biden would have debated again on October 15.

It is still unclear if that will happen.
