Ile-de-France Mobilities

  • The promoters of the future trainsets for lines 15, 16 and 17 promise a future “fluid and comfortable” journey.

  • These lines will be in partial circulation from 2024 and 2025.

New trainsets to discover.

This Friday, Valérie Pécresse, president of Ile-de-France Mobilités and the Ile-de-France region, in the presence of representatives of the Société du Grand Paris and Alstom, revealed the design of the future metro lines 15, 16 and 17.

With 2.8-meter-wide cars, each train will be able to carry around 500 passengers in the three-car version and around 1,000 passengers in the six-car version.

Without a driver, the metro's commercial speed will be between 55 and 65 km / h with peak speeds of up to 110 km / h.

And inside the train?

"Fluid and comfortable"

“The Alstom style and design office has designed an interior design that offers a fluid and comfortable travel experience.

The interior layout of the trains has been designed to be both capacious and comfortable, ”says the company.

And to specify: “With very large intercirculations and different types of gripping devices, the traveler can move easily and choose the space that suits him.

The front end design offers travelers a new comfort zone and a panoramic view thanks to a very wide windshield, a panoramic console and seats on either side, ”while promising that“ standing travel is also more comfortable with ischial support behind the seats and in mixed spaces.

»In addition, USB sockets for recharging smartphones will be available.

The design chosen by Ile-de-France residents for metro trainsets on lines 15, 16 and 17 - Alstom

In 2018, Ile-de-France Mobilités and the Société du Grand Paris suggested that Ile-de-France residents choose the design of metro lines 15, 16 and 17 of the Grand Paris Express.

They can now come and find out.

From this Friday, on the occasion of the inauguration of the exhibition

The Lines of Design

which opens at the Metro Fabrique in Saint-Ouen (Seine-Saint-Denis), visitors will indeed be able to admire a life-size model of the future train, before going into it in several years.

These three lines must enter into (partial) circulation in 2024 for the 16 and 17 and 2025 for the 15.
