The investigator of the Beirut port explosion in Lebanon issued an arrest warrant to the person in charge of the vessel involved

  According to local media, on the 1st, Fadi Sawan, investigator of the Beirut Port bombing, issued an arrest warrant to the owner and captain of the vessel involved in storing ammonium nitrate and requested Interpol to assist in the arrest. Both of them are Russian nationals.

On August 5, local time, after the Beirut port exploded, only one wall was left in a wheat warehouse originally built at the port.

  A violent explosion occurred in the Beirut port area on August 4, causing at least 190 deaths and more than 6,500 injuries.

The then Prime Minister Diab announced the collective resignation of the government on August 10.

The specific cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

  Several Lebanese officials mentioned that approximately 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate have been stored in warehouses in the Beirut port area since 2014.

After the explosion, the Lebanese judicial department has issued arrest warrants to at least 25 people involved in the case, including customs commissioner Dashir and Beirut port general manager Kuretem.
