Storm Alex is due to hit Brittany overnight from Thursday to Friday.

The department of Morbilhan, which should experience particularly violent winds, has been placed on "red" vigilance by Météo France while the Côtes d'Armor, Ille-et-Vilaine, and Loire-Atlantique are on "orange" vigilance ".

Storm Alex is expected to hit Morbilhan hard on Thursday night through Friday.

Météo France has thus placed the department on "red" vigilance over Morbihan, according to Météo-France, because of the significant winds that are expected.

Orange vigilance "violent wind" is also maintained on three other departments of the north-west: Côtes d'Armor, Ille-et-Vilaine, and Loire-Atlantique.

Storm Alex is expected next night over Brittany and the west of the Pays de Loire.

The department of Morbihan, placed in red, should not be affected in its entirety by gusts greater than 130 km / h.

But with the violence and the speed of the phenomenon, we should expect gusts of between 130 and 150 km / h, mainly in the south of the department.

In the three departments in orange vigilance, we expect gusts of the order of 100 to 120 km / h in the interior, and 120 to 140 km / h on the coast, or even more on the exposed capes.

In the Vendée and the south of Finistère, in yellow vigilance, strong gusts on the coast are probable, of the order of 110 to 120 km / h.

In addition, the rainy episode associated with the passage of this stormy disturbance will give strong accumulations of rain in Brittany.

Orange "rain-flood" vigilance is also maintained on the Côtes d'Armor, Finistère and Morbihan.

Also note, for Finistère, an orange "flood" vigilance in the Morlaix sector.

The weather will also be very agitated in the south-east where an orange vigilance "storms" and "rain-floods" is launched on four departments: Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes and Var.

Mediterranean episode

A high intensity Mediterranean episode will affect the PACA region on Friday.

On the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var, the rains will start in the morning, and will intensify during the afternoon until the evening, in particular on the north-eastern part of the Var and the relief of the Alpes-Maritimes .

The accumulations of rain expected until Saturday morning will be very important, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Hautes-Alpes, especially on the relief.

Brittany and the Cotentin will experience rough weather for a good part of the day, with sometimes marked rains and wind, sometimes reaching 100 to 110 km / h on the coasts, 80 to 90 km / h inland.

Very disturbed day in the east

In the eastern half of the country, except Corsica and Alsace where the rain will not arrive until the following night, the day promises to be particularly disturbed there too.

The wind will blow strongly, gusting up to 80 to 100 km / h, before shifting to the west.

The rains will be generalized and often sustained, especially from Languedoc and PACA to the Rhône valley.

In the Alps, the rain-snow limit will be around 2,700 m, but will drop to 1,300 to 1,500 m in the evening.

From the east of the Channel to the Pays de Loire, after a rainy period during the night, the weather will improve with clearings.

In New Aquitaine and western Occitania, it will rain in the morning.

Near the ocean, the wind will remain strong enough.

The rain-snow limit will drop to around 1,500 m in the Pyrenees.

In the evening, on the Atlantic coast, gusts can reach 100 km / h on the Aquitaine coast.

The minimum temperatures will vary from 7 to 12 degrees, 10 to 17 near the Mediterranean, and the maximums from 12 to 17 degrees, and 18 to 23 near the Mediterranean.
