The Ministry of Health of Canada announced on the 30th (local time) that it has approved the use of ID now, a diagnostic kit from Abbott in the United States, which can check for COVID-19 infection in 15 minutes.

IDNow's approval came one day after the Canadian Ministry of Procurement announced that the previous day it had signed a contract to purchase 7.9 million Abbott diagnostic kits along with accessories.

IDNow puts a cotton swab into the inside of the nose or neck to collect a sample and then inspects it for COVID-19 infection through an on-site analyzer, so you can check the result in 15 minutes.

In the U.S., emergency use approval has already been granted, with 11 million kits reportedly distributed across 50 states.

Canadian CBC Broadcasting said that some point out that IDNow uses an antigen test method that is quick and simple, but is less accurate than PCR (gene amplification) tests.

Meanwhile, the number of new corona19 patients in Canada on that day was 1,797, and the cumulative number of patients reached 1587,758.
