Donald Trump repeatedly interrupted his opponent and Joe Biden had difficulty speaking.

Moderator Chris Wallace was repeatedly reminded of the rules of the debate, which both parties agreed on in advance.

"He can't do the job," Trump said of his opponent.

"Everyone knows that, he's a liar," Biden said of the president.

Nomination of HD judges

The debate began with the two candidates being asked about Trump's decision to promptly nominate a replacement for the recently deceased HD judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

As expected, Trump said that is all right and that the Democrats would probably have done the same.

Biden, for his part, emphasized that the American people should have their say by voting before a new judge is nominated to the Supreme Court.

Questioned the vote

When the topic "integrity of the election" was to be debated, the candidates were asked if they could swear not to declare themselves winners until the election results have been determined.

Joe Biden answered yes while Donald Trump urged his supporters to pay attention and shared his suspicions about whether the election will go right.
