SCA receives permission to build the biorefinery at Östrand

SCA Biorefinery Östrand AB receives a permit to build and operate a biorefinery in connection with the SCA Östrand pulp mill.

This was announced by the Land and Environment Court at Östersund District Court on Wednesday.

This is a plant where it is planned to produce 300,000 tonnes of biofuel per year in the form of renewable petrol, diesel and aviation fuel.

The County Administrative Board of Västernorrland, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Marine and Water Authority, MSB and Timrå and Sundsvall municipalities, have, according to a press release from the Land and Environmental Court, essentially approved the operation but had certain views on the conditions prescribed.
