China News Service, September 30. According to the Japan Broadcasting Association (NHK), the Japanese police and the IT team have recently developed a system that uses AI technology to predict the current appearance of wanted criminals who have absconded for a long time.

It is understood that there are currently about 630 fugitives wanted nationwide in Japan, although the Japanese police have published their profile pictures through bulletin boards and official websites.

However, most of the suspects have been at large for more than 10 years, and their actual appearance may have been quite different from the one in the wanted photos.

In this context, the Japanese National Police Agency, in cooperation with private enterprise teams, has developed a system that uses AI technology to predict the current appearance of long-term fugitives.

The system uses more than 20,000 face image data, which can depict wrinkles and loose skin that occur with age on the head picture.

Not only that, the system can also display avatar patterns in various modes such as hair volume and weight gain and loss.

In response, Hiroshi Shigematsu, head of the Criminal Planning Division of the Criminal Bureau of the National Police Agency, said: "Even if there is only one more, we look forward to getting more clues."

It is reported that photos of suspects made using this system will be made public online starting September 30, and people can fill out a special form online to provide relevant information to the police.
