This appeal was launched in particular by Renaud Muselier, the president of the PACA regional council to protest against the total closure of bars, restaurants and cafes in the metropolis of Aix-Marseille to fight against the spread of the coronavirus in this territory.

The appeal filed by restaurateurs and the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region, among others, against the decree imposing the total closure for 15 days of bars and restaurants in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence was rejected Wednesday by the administrative court of Marseille.

This decree, which aims to stop the spread of Covid-19 in the only two cities in mainland France placed so far by the government in the maximum alert zone took effect on Sunday at midnight and is applicable until October 11 inclusive, even if it provides for a "review" clause eight days after its entry into force.
