Following a request for an arrest warrant yesterday (28th) against Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Jeong-soon for violating the election law, the court also issued a request for consent to arrest.

Arresting a member of the National Assembly during the session requires the consent of the National Assembly, but the Democratic Party's leadership advised Congressman to voluntarily attend, saying that there is no so-called bulletproof National Assembly.

Prosecutors accused Democratic Party lawmaker Jeong Jeong-soon of accounting fraud, illegal political funding, and using the list of volunteers obtained through fraudulent methods during the general election in April.

The prosecution notified him of his attendance eight times, but he did not appear due to reasons such as the National Assembly schedule.

In the election law case, the prosecution requested an arrest warrant yesterday as the statute of prosecution ends on the 15th of next month, and the court issued a request for consent to arrest, saying, "There is a need for arrest."

The consent of the National Assembly is required to arrest an active member of the National Assembly who has the'unarrest privilege' during the session.

When the Ministry of Justice sends a motion to the National Assembly, it is reported to the first plenary session that will be held thereafter, and the ballot will be held within 72 hours after 24 hours.

Since the Democratic Party is a generous majority, so-called'Bulletproof National Assembly' is possible if you are satisfied.

However, an official from the Democratic Party cut off, saying, "There is no bulletproof National Assembly," saying, "Hospital representative Kim Tae-nyeon has advised Congressman Chung to voluntarily attend."

The scheduled plenary session will be held on the 28th of next month, so it is unclear whether the plenary session will be held before the statute of prosecution for alleged violations of the election law expires.

SBS made several phone calls to hear Chung's position, but could not reach them.

Rep. Jung posted only Chuseok greetings on social media today without mentioning the arrest warrant.
