It was in January that a juicy fake invoice of just over one million kronor was accidentally paid by Region Västerbotten.
The invoice was similar to the one to be paid for an X-ray equipment, but was fake.
Västerbottens-Kuriren was the first to tell.
- It is never easy with invoices from abroad.
Here, the fraudster had information that made us cheat, it is extremely serious and we reported it all to the police in February, says the region's finance director Jan Öström.
After the incident, the information about the million scam was not shared more than among those closest to the top of power.
CFO Jan Öström has no answer as to why the information was neither recorded or shared with the opposition.
Stop the deficit
One million kronor will be added to the deficit that the Västerbotten region is already struggling with.
According to the CFO, they have now reviewed their routines so that it can not happen again.
