Prime Minister Suga's first foreign visit was coordinated in Vietnam and Indonesia in mid-October September 30, 4:07

Prime Minister Suga has begun coordinating visits to Vietnam and Indonesia in mid-October as his first foreign visit since taking office.

In the future, we will make a final decision after assessing the infection status of the new coronavirus.

Since taking office, Prime Minister Suga has held telephone talks with the leaders of the United States, China, Russia, and other countries, while carefully considering the first foreign visit while observing the infection status of the new coronavirus.

As a result, considering that the infection situation is relatively calm, we have made concrete adjustments to visit Vietnam and Indonesia in mid-October.

Vietnam is the chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and Indonesia has the largest population in ASEAN and is a member of the G20, which is made up of 20 major countries. Former Prime Minister Abe The Minister also visited both countries on his first foreign visit after the inauguration of the second administration.

Prime Minister Suga has a policy of making a final decision on whether or not to visit after assessing the infection situation to the last minute, and if the visit is realized, he will hold a summit meeting with Prime Minister Hook of Vietnam and President Joko Widodo of Indonesia.

As Prime Minister Suga, as the conflict between the United States and China intensifies over issues such as the South China Sea, I would like to further strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries for regional peace and stability.
