A mother who had been disconnected from her family two years ago, was found floating in the sea off Colombian beaches

A mother was found floating on the sea off Colombian beaches, after two years of interrupting contact with her family.

Communication between the mother and her family was cut off two years ago, and the family had no idea where she was until fisherman Rolando Vespal found her floating a mile into the sea off the town of "Puerto Colombia" in Atlantico on December 26.

She was later identified as Angelica Gaetan, 46, who was in a very weak condition and had a low temperature.

The police are currently investigating the matter to find out what this mother was doing during the two years during which she was considered missing, and how she ended up at sea.

According to reports, this mother was floating in the water for at least eight hours, and she was transferred to the hospital in very poor health.

The circumstances surrounding this strange incident are still unclear, especially after local media reached out to her daughter, Alejandra Castiplanco, who said that she did not know anything about her mother's whereabouts during the past two years.

She added that conversations that her mother may have attempted suicide as a result of a failed relationship or previous assault are fake news.

Castiplanco and her sister are now working to raise money to send their mother to the capital, Bogotá, where they live, and they hope the family will take care of their mother.
