Catalonia faces half a year of misrule

The PSOE has asked this morning the president of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, to call regional elections now and has assured that a "new time" is opening in Catalonia.

"The sooner the better," said the president of the PSOE, Cristina Narbona, today at a press conference after the meeting of the Federal Executive, which was chaired by the chief executive, Pedro Sánchez.

"A new time is opening for Catalonia, so the call for regional elections should take place as soon as possible that will allow the Catalans to overcome the paralysis and blockade generated by the pro-independence parties in recent months."

"Mr. Torra cannot feel surprised by that sentence either, since he himself declared himself guilty of disobedience," said Narbona, who has justified his request for immediate elections despite the ravages of the health crisis and the obligation to confront him in that we need institutions "as strong as possible" and "not in a situation of clear weakness".

And more from today, he added.

The Socialist president, on behalf of the Government, has reiterated her willingness to maintain dialogue with the Generalitat and set a date for a bilateral meeting but no longer with Torra.

"As of the sentence is disabled, any dialogue between two administrations has to develop between people trained to make decisions."

Podemos accuses the Judiciary of being "kidnapped" by the PP

The disqualification of the

president

was a scenario taken for granted in Podemos.

The

commons

, the Catalan sector of the party, led by Ada Colau, has been asking for elections for weeks.

But the materialization of the Supreme Court's ruling has not prevented them from crossing out the decision as "unfair" or "the most absurd case that we have seen in the entire judicialization stage" in Catalonia, according to

Jaume Asens

, president of the United We Can parliamentary group .

The strategy of the last days in United We Can is to place the Judiciary as an institution in the hands of the right, specifically the PP.

At your service.

And they consider that Torra's disqualification is one more expression of that: "One more unjust sentence from a judiciary kidnapped by the right wing that, in no way, has diverted us from the path of politics," says Asens.

An idea that has been reiterated by the leader of the

commons

in the Parliament,

Jéssica Albiach

: "We are working to carry out the reform of the penal code -reduction of sedition- and for the renewal of the judicial leadership, which is kidnapped by the PP and it is deeply reactionary. "

Albiach, has insisted on the need to call elections and urges Torra to do so.

"Catalonia deserves a better future after so much judicialization, which has proven useless. The sentence seems absolutely disproportionate and a very serious fact to us."
