China News Service, Toronto, September 28 (Reporter Yu Ruidong) The Second Chinese Culture and Art Festival co-sponsored by the Canadian Chinese Association and the Sichuan Association of Hometowns in Canada was held online on the evening of September 27, local time.

The organizers stated that this year coincides with the 71st anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, October 1 coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival, and this year is also the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Canada and China.

However, due to the new crown epidemic, this year's Chinese Culture and Arts Festival celebrations changed from offline to online, live broadcast on multiple cloud platforms at home and abroad.

Tong Xiaoling, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Vancouver, said that last year the first Chinese Culture and Art Festival was successfully held in Vancouver Art Gallery Plaza, attracting more than 300,000 people from all walks of life to visit, creating an important brand of cultural activities in the overseas Chinese community in Vancouver.

Since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic this year, the overseas Chinese in Greater Vancouver have made outstanding contributions to the fight against the epidemic in their home country and local society in Canada, and many moving and outstanding deeds have emerged.

Holding the second Chinese Culture and Arts Festival online at this time is beneficial to build on the value of sharing and co-constructing Canada's multiculturalism, promote the excellent traditional Chinese culture of mutual assistance, solidarity and mutual love, and pay tribute to people from all walks of life in both countries who have made outstanding contributions to the fight against the epidemic.

Artists from China and Canada are connected through the Internet and jointly presented a series of cultural programs with national characteristics.

The performances were wonderful, including the Pear Garden's performance "Sword Horse Dan", the English original anti-epidemic song "Longest Time", the songs "Home Where the Moon Rises" and "Jasmine", ballet "Swan Lake", dance "Kangding Love Song", Sichuan opera "Changing Face", Wushu "Samsung Tai Chi" and "Shaolin Kungfu", recitation and singing "Shui Tiao Song Tou", etc.

Aboriginal Canadians sent a traditional dance "Vine Circle Dance".

The live broadcast ended in the song "I Love You, China".

The organizer expressed the hope that with the help of the live broadcast of this cultural and art festival, it will convey warmth and hope to people who have experienced the challenges of the epidemic, and pay tribute to the frontline medical workers.

The Canadian Chinese Association also promised to continue to hold the Chinese Culture and Art Festival in the future, so that the people of all ethnic groups in Canada can enjoy the colorful cultural customs of China.
