During excavations at Pompeii 2018-2019, archaeologists developed parts of a completely new neighborhood.

On a wall inside the so-called "Garden House" was found a note mentioning a cost and a time indication: "XVI.K.

NOV.IN OLEARIA ”.

It is read "sixteen days before the

calendar

in November, in the oil chamber".

In our calendar, it corresponds to October 17 and indicates that the destruction of the city took place about two months later than the researchers previously thought.

- The inscription is made of charcoal so it is unlikely that it will last longer than a few days - a month.

If it refers to the year 79 when the volcanic eruption took place, then it means that the date August 24, which I have always believed in, is not correct, says archaeologist Massimo Osanna in The World of Science - Pompeii's secrets.
