The foundation's three main projects are to release small cod, to improve the nutrient cycle for animal manure and to create living bays, according to a press release from Uppsala University.

In total, close to SEK 150 million is invested and a large part of the money has been donated by Ann-Sofie Mattsson, who also founded Baltic Waters 2030.

- I have lived by the Baltic Sea all my life, now I want to do good when I have the opportunity and interest.

I see a clear advantage in an independent foundation with low costs that can concentrate on projects that really do good, says Ann-Sofie Mattsson, in the press release.

Puts out cod larvae: "Fantastic opportunity"

The main question of the project is whether it is possible to produce and release cod larvae that survive to adult size and thus can contribute to the stock of cod in the Baltic Sea

- The new grants give us a fantastic opportunity to develop research at the Research Station Ar and on Gotland, says Gunilla Rosenqvist, project manager for the Blue Center Gotland, professor of behavioral ecology and director of the Research Station Ar.
