A 52-year-old man was arrested in Lyon on June 14 after a long forensic investigation into a series of burglaries committed over the past four years in the regions of Montpellier, Lyon and Dijon.
According to
Le Midi Libre
, which reveals this case, the suspect's DNA was found for the first time in the Hérault in 2016 but it was not entered in the police files.
The investigation rebounded in June when the Lyon police arrested the man.
They then compared his DNA with that which had been taken four years earlier, which made it possible to confuse the burglar and relay the various cases.
Placed in police custody, the latter admitted a large part of the facts, detailing his already well-established method.
The fifty-year-old, domiciled in Le Mans, had gotten into the habit of sowing small stones in front of the residences he wanted to rob.
If the stone had not moved, he felt then that the place was empty and it was time to take action.
Locked up, he will be tried in Lyon on a date that has not been communicated.
