Donald Trump seems to have been so convinced of Barrett's excellence that he did not even interview any of the candidates on his list.

This despite the fact that she will be the judge in HD with absolutely the least experience from legal proceedings, but for all opponents of abortion and the Christian right, the deeply believing Catholic is a dream candidate.

The nomination will certainly lead to a fairly early debate on the right to abortion, which divides the country so deeply.

Obamacare is at stake

Another case that she has certainly received test questions about is Obamacare.

The Supreme Court must take the position on complaints from several states because the health reform has a mandatory part, those who do not join suffer from fines.

And with Barrett on the conservative side of HD, one of Barack Obama's biggest political imprints may soon be a thing of the past.

The case is to be heard by the Supreme Court one month after the election.

Originalist

22 years ago, Amy Cony Barrett began working as an assistant to Antonin Scalia, the former Supreme Court justice who died in 2016. Barrett quickly became Scalia's favorite and served as her mentor during that time.

And it is precisely Scalia's view of the law that the Republican side hopes Barrett will build on, namely that the US constitution will be interpreted literally.

Together with her husband Jesse, also a lawyer, she has seven children.

Two adopted from Haiti.

And she will now, if the vote in the Senate passes, become the youngest judge in the Supreme Court, with the power to influence the American future for a long time to come.

She is only 48 years old and together with Donald Trump's two previous nominations, Neil M Grsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, who are both just over 50 years old, a conservative majority is guaranteed for many decades, as the judges sit for life.

Abortion opponents

Amy Coney is described as interested in sports and training and has expressed that she always puts law before personal perception and belief.

But the fact that the feminist icon Ruth Bather Ginsburg is being replaced by a lawyer who in the future may restrict women's right to abortion annoys many Democrats.

And there are opinion polls that say a majority of the American people believe that the vacancy should be filled only after the election and by the president who wins the third of November.

But the Republican Party has the democratic tools needed to nominate and approve Amy Coney Barrett.

Democrats are now debating how the party can delay the vote, but any attempt would provoke anger among all voters who believe the political system should be followed.

However, the question has been raised whether the Democrats, in the event of an election victory, can increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court.

This is the debate in a country that is experiencing perhaps the most dramatic election campaign to date.

The hearing of Amy Coney Barrett is expected to begin in the Senate in the coming weeks.
