Navarra: Throwing of objects at police cars and burning of containers at dawn in Alsasua
Terrorism. A thousand young people, adolescents and children call the Civil Guard "murderer" in Alsasua
The Popular Parliamentary Group has registered a
Non-Law Proposal
in which it urges the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, to increase protection for members of the National Police and the Civil Guard and their families "in the face of the increase in aggressions, coercion and threats »that they have suffered in recent months.
The proposal, which will be debated "in the coming weeks" in the lower house according to
popular
sources
, comes after various episodes in which "harassment has been growing" against the State Security Forces and Bodies, especially in
Navarra
and the Basque Country .
In Alsasua, for example, the Government allowed the celebration of
Ospa Eguna
on August 29
, a concentration "with the sole purpose of humiliating and harassing the Civil Guard without any impunity", according to the text already registered in Congress, to which
EL MUNDO
has had access
.
The motto of this year's event was
You are the virus
, addressed to the members of the armed institute.
It is not the only recent case of harassment of the Civil Guard and the National Police.
During the early hours of September 13, and in the same Navarran town, a group from the Benemérita was "attacked and harassed" when they tried to dissolve a bottle.
However, the humiliations occur in numerous parts of the national geography: a few weeks ago, a girl was "threatened and attacked" in
Palma de Mallorca
for being the daughter of a civil guard, a situation that, as detailed in the brief presented in Congress has been repeated "for years" in
Catalonia
.
The Popular Parliamentary Group has proposed, beyond administratively and judicially protecting the State Security Forces and Bodies, that the
Prosecutor's Office
order the prohibition of acts such as Ospa Eguna.
Also that the
Penal Code
be strengthened
so that any attack on civil guards or police officers or their families as a result of the performance of their work is classified as a hate crime.
"There has not been a minimum statement against this harassment," laments the National Deputy Secretary for Organization of the PP and president of the party in Navarra,
Ana Beltrán
, promoter of this proposal.
"No one in this government protects the security forces", who, according to details, feel helpless in situations such as those registered.
In the eyes of the
popular
, "the aggressors are being protected more than the attacked," a trend similar to that adopted by the Executive in matters such as
squatting
.
For this reason, they consider that "it is time to act now" and stand up for the Civil Guard and the National Police.
From the PP they hope to have the support of Vox and Ciudadanos to promote the proposal.
The position of the Socialists remains in the air, who are in a moment of delicate negotiations with nationalist parties to carry out the General Budgets of 2021. It is expected that from the first of the registered petitions sparks will jump between Government partners: «The Congress urges the Government to unequivocally condemn any threat, aggression or coercion against the State Security Forces and Bodies and their families.
