26 September 2020A 49-year-old worker from Isola Capo Rizzuto, employed by a company that works on behalf of the Italian railway network for the maintenance of the railway line, died instantly in an accident at work in Condofuri, in the province of Reggio Calabria .
From a first reconstruction it seems that the man at the end of the shift, preparing to clean the tank of the machinery that spreads the gravel between the tracks, was trapped, for reasons that are being ascertained, between the gears of the conveyor belt of the machine.
The intervention of the Fire Brigade was necessary to extract the body.
The man, who was well known in Isola Capo Rizzuto, left his wife and two children aged 19 and 11.
