The conditions were not the best when Team Maxime from Kyrkebyskolan in Arvika made it to the finals in the Swedish Championships in outdoor cooking.

They had signed up for a competition held in Säffle in early September.

- We did not come but the day before the competition they called and said that they had a place for us.

The only crux was that the other teams had had two weeks to prepare, says Malin Enarsson who was the one who took the initiative to participate in the competition.

Final on Sunday

But it would turn out to go well anyway.

Together with Team Wallinders from Karlstad they went on and now await the final.

- We got a little freestyle, laughs Maxime Hacala.

On Friday, he, Malin Enarsson and the team's third chef, Marita Kahlin, gathered at a barbecue in Arvika for the final preparations for the final, a final where the opposition mainly consists of teams with chefs from established restaurants.

- We are probably a little untipped in the final because we come from a school canteen, says Malin Enarsson.

This is how the competition works

In the final, the competing teams will prepare a three-course dinner over an open fire.

The raw materials are given in advance and the team has two and a half hours at their disposal.

This also includes making a fire.
