Over the last seven days, 4,069 new hospitalizations were recorded, including 747 serious cases in intensive care, or 29 more than the day before.

Since the start of the epidemic, at least 31,661 people have died from causes related to the coronavirus, including 20,995 in hospitals.

"Alarming" health situation in Rennes

The prefect of Ille-et-Vilaine Michèle Kirry announced at this press conference the issuance of a decree for two weeks including a series of new health measures, such as the ban on gatherings of more than 1,000 people, the 'ban on room rentals for festive gatherings or the ban on student parties.
However, the closing time for restaurants is unchanged and swimming pools can remain open.
The incidence rate of Covid-19 in Rennes is 174.8 per 100,000 inhabitants and rises to 421 among young people (16-25 years old).
This rate is 63.7 in Brittany and 119.7 in Ille-et-Vilaine, according to the prefect.
