The former president and former Prime Minister of the transition Yacouba Isaac Zida was invested as the candidate of the Patriotic Movement for Salvation this Friday, September 25 in Ouagadougou.

In exile in Canada since 2016, his arrival had been announced in the country but an arrest warrant was issued against him by the military justice for "desertion in peacetime and insubordination".

Revolutionary slogans, criticisms against the management of power by Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, the militants of

the Patriotic Movement for Salvation

took this opportunity of investiture of their candidate to denounce what they consider to be a "

politico-judicial cabal

" against the ex-president Yacouba Isaac Zida.

He was removed from the cadres of the armed forces by a decree and as if that were not enough, he is still being prosecuted for desertion in peacetime and for insubordination,"

insists Augustin Loada, president of the MPS.

All the justifications in the world will not be enough to obscure the arbitrary and purely political nature of this decision, which can only be resolved politically, either by negotiation or by the balance of power.

 "

Absent from the ceremony, it is by videoconference that Yacouba Isaac Zida addressed the activists and sympathizers of his party.

With the national flag in the background, the former Prime Minister of the transition has not been kind to the current government.

“

Bad governance has reached an unprecedented level.

Our country is sinking into a bottomless pit while the rulers live in total recklessness, marked by notorious incompetence.

That is why I got involved in politics again.

"

The activists present at the people's house warn that they will not accept a rejection of the candidacy of Yacouba Isaac Zida, to whom they have also asked to return to Burkina Faso, for the electoral campaign.

In a statement, the Burkinabè Minister of Communication denies that the government prevented the former Prime Minister from returning to Burkina Faso in order to participate in the congress of his inauguration.

"

Entry into the territory of Burkina is free and authorized for Mr. Yacouba Isaac Zida as for any Burkinabè wishing to return to his country

", underlines the Minister.

By refusing, however, to “

remove him from any legal action

”, as Augustin Loada and his party comrades wished.
