The Paris City Hall is aligned with the measures announced by Olivier Véran on Wednesday evening.

From Monday, the capital's bars will have to close at 10 p.m., the police headquarters confirmed on Friday, specifying that restaurants which do not serve “alcohol without food” are not affected by this restriction.

On Wednesday, Olivier Véran, the Minister of Health, announced new restrictive measures to halt the rebound of the coronavirus epidemic.

In the "enhanced alert zones", of which Paris and its inner suburbs are part, "the bars will not be able to remain open beyond 10 pm", announced the minister.

"Wedding ceremonies can take place but not wedding parties"

"We will use the maximum flexibility granted to the prefects for the closing time of drinking establishments, namely 22h", indicates the police headquarters in a message to the mayors of the capital city districts.

"We want," she adds, "to preserve restaurants (in the sense, which does not serve alcohol without food) from this measure, so they can continue to function normally."

We must be aware of the fact that the dividing line between bars and restaurants, in law, is complex, but we believe that we have found a way to objectify this in the decree.

"

The police headquarters also want "great flexibility on measures concerning school and extracurricular activities", which it wants to maintain, and authorize the use of "municipal equipment such as gymnasiums, for example, for this type of public".

Outdoor sports facilities may remain open.

In addition, "wedding ceremonies can take place but not wedding parties".

Elected officials can make municipal rooms available for non-festive events such as "painting classes or the association forum", it is specified.

No more than 10 people gathered in the public space

"The worship ceremonies planned in particular in the coming days in the Jewish community are authorized if they take place in closed spaces and not in the public space", adds the message.

The ban on gatherings of more than 10 people in public space “does not concern cemeteries, nor professional activities in public spaces (construction sites, filming, tourist guides, etc.)”.

Finally, the maximum level for large events will, as planned, be lowered to 1,000 people and this applies "to all events, indoors or outdoors".

This particularly concerns the Roland-Garros tournament which begins on Sunday.

This gauge is to be calculated "at time T, excluding staff members, technical staff, etc.", specifies the prefecture.
