The Ministry of Defense said today (24) that North Korea condemned the atrocities of shooting and burning the body of a fishery guidance officer, A (47), who disappeared near Soyeonpyeong Island, and strongly urged punishment for the person in charge.



The following is the full text of the'Inspection on the Disappearance of Koreans in the West Sea' published by the Ministry of Defense.



『On September 21, our military received a report from the Maritime Police Agency that a crew member of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries was missing at around 13:00 on September 21, 1.2 miles south of Soyeonpyeong Island.



The missing fishery guidance official, Mr. A, was conducting fishing guidance on a marine fishing guidance vessel near Soyeonpyeong Island on September 21st.



As a result of a thorough analysis of various intelligences, our military confirmed that North Korea committed a barrage of shooting and burning the bodies of Koreans found in the North Korean waters.



The South Korean military strongly condemns North Korea's atrocities, and strongly urges North Korea to clarify and punish the person in charge.



In addition, it is a serious warning that North Korea is responsible for all the atrocities committed against our people.
