His little merry-go-round will have lasted a month.

Tuesday morning, a 56-year-old man was arrested in Nantes and taken into custody for a dozen thefts of handbags.

According to the police, the acts were committed between late August and mid-September, in the parking lots of various supermarkets or shopping centers in the Nantes area.

The victims are all elderly people (from 69 to 90 years old) whom the thief trapped with a well-established technique.

More than 3,500 euros of damage

After spotting his target, at the exit of the store, the man waited for his victim to open his chest to store his groceries.

Hidden behind cars, he took advantage of the moment when she left to drop off her trolley to steal the handbag, left inside the cabin ...

Transactions were then carried out with the stolen bank cards, just after the thefts.

The total damage amounts to 3,525 euros, police said.

The man, in whom two guns were found, was to be presented to a judge on Wednesday.
