If the government's announcement of the extension of paternity leave should make it possible to further democratize this leave within companies, some companies are already offering much more advantageous deadlines to their employees.

This is a new breakthrough that has long been hoped for by many parents.

On Tuesday, the Elysee Palace announced that the duration of paternity leave would double and go from 14 to 28 days, enough to allow new dads to get to know their children better and that the tasks are better distributed within the couple.

But while the measure is expected to come into force on July 1, 2021, some companies were already offering a month off, and others were even going much further.

While the device did not exist at the birth of his first son, for the second, he created a bond with his baby much faster.

"Before the leave, I couldn't really identify the meaning of his crying. When he cried, I turned to my wife to find out if he was hungry, if he had a stomach ache, if he was tired," he explains at the microphone of Europe 1. "After three non-stop weeks with him, I think I have a little easier to decipher the meaning of his crying".

"It becomes natural in the company"

Aviva was one of the first companies in France to offer 10 weeks, three years ago.

Initially, 81% of fathers took this leave.

Now they are 95%.

According to the director of well-being at work Sylvie Chartier, mentalities have clearly changed.

"It becomes natural in the company. It will not shock anyone to say to themselves: 'I will be away to be present and take care of my child'. It is no longer a female subject but a parent's subject. .

Facebook France even offers up to 4 months.

But the record goes to Netflix, where the 60 French employees can take up to a year of paid parental leave.
