81 minor accidents in Sharjah

Rafid Vehicle Solutions, which is responsible for planning minor accidents in Sharjah, reported that it dealt with 81 minor accidents during the past three days, which witnessed a low level of visibility due to the formation of fog (from 5 to 9:30 in the morning).

The Sharjah Police General Command confirmed to "Emirates Today" that the largest percentage of serious accidents on the roads, during the formation of fog, are caused by drivers not adhering to the mandatory traffic line, not leaving enough distance between vehicles, and not reducing the speed during this period, noting the need to stop the vehicle outside The road, during a period of low visibility and fog, and the use of dim lighting, and avoid the use of warning lights four-way, except in cases of complete stop of the vehicle.

She also stressed the need to adhere to the specified road speeds, and take into account leaving a sufficient safety distance between vehicles.

The Director of the Awareness and Traffic Information Branch in Sharjah Police, Captain Saud Al-Shaiba, said that during the period of fog formation, Sharjah Police dealt with one accident that occurred between 21 vehicles on Emirates Road towards the Emirate of Umm Al Quwain, resulting in two injuries.

He stated that Sharjah Police transmits awareness messages and videos, daily, through its platforms on social media, to warn drivers of the danger of not following driving instructions in the fog, especially in the current weather in the country, in addition to messages about the most common mistakes that may cause accidents. And he indicated that most of the accidents that occurred during the fog are minor collision and collision accidents, as a result of not leaving enough distance between vehicles, and drivers not following driving instructions during fog, including reducing the speed, and driving with caution.

He called on drivers to abide by traffic instructions to raise the level of safety and ensure safety for all.
