The individual suspected of having fatally struck a young man in the night from Saturday to Sunday, while driving his car, during a brawl in Abeilhan (Hérault), was indicted Tuesday for murder, attempted murders and driving under the influence of alcohol, indicates Raphaël Balland, the prosecutor of Béziers.

That night, firefighters and gendarmes intervened in this town because of a brawl between fifteen individuals divided into two groups.

Hit "on purpose"?

Three people were struck by a vehicle, including the 23-year-old, a friend of the suspect, who did not survive.

The man suspected of being behind the wheel of the car, aged 24, has so far been unknown to judicial authorities.

According to the prosecutor, the testimonies suggest "that the driver intentionally collided with the three victims".

He "admitted that he had voluntarily given a steering wheel but with the sole aim of scaring the group located at the edge of the traffic lane, and that he believed to be composed of individuals with whom he had just fought. .

He claimed (…) that he did not want to kill anyone and that he was desperate to find out that he had killed his best friend and seriously injured the other two victims.

"

The autopsy of the young man who died will be performed on Friday, and the vehicle in question was seized to carry out the necessary technical investigations.
