“In recent years, Russia has been demonstrating one of the most impressive rates of decline in morbidity and mortality from tuberculosis in the world,” RIA Novosti Murashko quotes.

He noted that this fact is recognized by the World Health Organization.

According to him, over the past ten years, the number of people with tuberculosis has halved.

Murashko clarified that, according to the WHO forecast, the coronavirus pandemic will lead to an increase in deaths from tuberculosis.

“Only through joint efforts will we be able to achieve a sustainable decrease in the incidence of tuberculosis in this difficult time,” he added.

Earlier, Murashko urged citizens to take precautions before the start of mass vaccination against coronavirus.
