Legislative in Burkina: the electoral commission closes the submission of candidatures

It was this Tuesday, September 22 at midnight that the submission of candidacy files to the independent national electoral commission ended.

Open since September 16, the committee received the files for the legislative elections of November 22.

A technical committee will comb through the various documents with a view to validating the applications.

The ballet of vehicles continued late into the night.

The representatives of political parties and formations, bags and boxes under their arms, enter and leave the courtyard of the electoral commission.

Each free space in the courtyard or in certain rooms is transformed into a meeting place.

The lists of future candidates must be completed or the documents checked before submission.

At midnight, the door closes, leaving some representatives of political parties outside.

Every year, unfortunately, political parties present themselves at the last minute.

We closed the doors because it is the deadline for the deposits

 ”, indicates Ahmed Newton Barry the president of the electoral commission

The reception of the files of all those who are in the court will continue until the early hours,

 " adds Yacouba Ouedraogo, the director of communication of the electoral commission.

After the filing of the files for the legislative elections, the reception of the files for the presidential election begins on September 28, underlines the president of the electoral commission.

152 parties, 6 political parties and 30 independent groups have been authorized to submit candidacy files for the legislative elections.

Parties and formations in good standing with the law.
