- Police Region Mitt will work with active fraud cases in the region and the idea is that we will complete as many cases as possible, says Jonas Eronen who is a press spokesperson at Uppsala Police.

In the police region Mitt, there are about 600 cases and in the police area Uppsala about 200. Resources have been moved around for the day in order to be able to focus wholeheartedly on the investigations that are now in focus.

At the same time, several interrogations are expected to be held during the day, and the police are expected to work outreach in cases where suspects do not appear with the police.

The operation is called Spotlights and the fact that the police work together, at the same time all over the country, will hopefully reveal the patterns of suspected fraudsters.

- Fraud affects both private individuals and the welfare systems, which entails enormous costs for society, says Jonas Eronen.
